YARD WASTE COLLECTION STARTS APRIL 4TH. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR OUR NEW COLLECTION SCHEDULE!
The on call yard waste route will be ran April through November, weather permitting.
At the start of this season’s yard waste collection, we are switching collection days to Tuesday and Wednesday. Anyone east of Ankeny Blvd/Highway 69 will have their yard waste collected on Tuesday. Anyone west of Ankeny Blvd/Highway 69 will have their yard waste collected on Wednesday. Please note that the City of Huxley will be collected on Wednesday.
The State of Iowa has banned yard waste from being dumped in the landfills. This material must be collected separately from other solid waste. Yard waste consists of: leaves, grass, clippings, tree branches, brush and stumps. If yard waste is found in your trash, we will not be able to empty your container until it is removed.
Any customer wishing to dispose of yard waste must schedule pickup by 12:00 p.m. the day before their scheduled collection day. Scheduling of yard waste pickup can be made by contacting our office at 515-964-5229 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Customers wishing to dispose of yard waste must place such waste in authorized bags. These are untreated paper bags acceptable to the composting station and available at a multitude of retailers. Unfortunately, we cannot accept yard waste in plastic bags.
There will be a minimum trip charge of $7.00 which covers an equivalent of four authorized bags of yard waste and a $1.75 charge per bag after the first four bags. These bags must not exceed fifty pounds in weight. Sod may also be picked up on the yard waste route. Please notify our office if you have sod in your yard waste bags. There may be an additional charge. Branches and limbs should be bundled with twine and in sections no longer than five feet. Yard waste must be placed on your curb prior to 6:00 a.m. on the collection day. Yard waste collection is from April through November weather permitting.
