Each week, most of us probably put our trash out at the street and then forget about it completely. Someone picks up our trash, week after week, no matter how heavy or cumbersome or smelly it is. It’s our garbage men and women, and they serve a critical role in our communities.
JUNE 17th is GLOBAL GARBAGE WORKERS’ DAY!
We are asking the community to join in on the celebration. The following are five things you can do to help us celebrate:
- Make sure your containers are clean, the trash is in a tied bag, and don’t overload your container.
- Share your kudos or favorite story about your garbage man or woman with us on Facebook.
- Give a simple wave and thank you as they pass by
- Offer a thank you note or a cold bottle of water
- Educate your family about the importance of safety around garbage trucks in your neighborhood
